Hello everyone,

First of all, I've done extensive Google search, checked Technet and searched the forums but I couldn't find the scenario with which one of my user faced me so I decided to post it here, in hopes of getting some insight from more experienced people :)

I have a user (and basically whole business stream involved with that) that uses tasks extensively (about 100 tasks created daily).

This is done via generic mailbox, and tasks are created by people with full access to this mailbox.

Such task after creation have the owner set as generic mailbox, then it is being assigned to user A and owner field changes correctly in generic mailbox, all fine so far.

Then user A carries on with the task, and once his/her part is complete task is being re-assigned to person B.

Task owner is updated on task list of user A, but not on task list of generic mailbox that originally created the task. Here, user A is still the owner.

Not an expert on this part of Outlook but I presume this is standard Outlook behaviour, and I've provided the user with workaround where tasks should be processed in following way: GenericMailbox -> User A -> GenericMailbox -> User B

instead of: GenericMailbox -> User A -> User B

however this way of processing is a time-waster for business and I've been asked to check if there is any way of having task in generic mailbox from which it originated updated at all times. E.g. when user A assigns task to user B information about this is sent to generic mailbox at the same time.

Any ideas really appreciated.

It is standard behavior - once a task is assigned, the mailbox that created it no longer owns it. Reassigning it would come from the new owner. Offhand, i can't think of a good way of handling it that would be better than what you have now.

Hi Diane,

Many thanks for your response and continuous expertise sharing.

I guess all that I have left is to bring bad news to the user :)
