I would also like to solve this puzzle! I'm not exporting, I can't specify the path, I just select the optione to create an offline copy whilst configuring the BCM addon and the error appears.
I've just checked our database and we are nowhere near the size limit.
You will probably generate a gravitational wave that will obliterate all your BCM contacts :)
My assumption would be that bad things happen (much like in any other software ever made) when such limits are achieved/exceed...
Dear all
Yesterday I've configured BCM on another PC but I was not able to create an offline copy of the shared database.
The error is ""The database name cannot exceed 50 characters"" and yesterday was the first time when I faced such an issue.
The shared database name is...
Altough not what I expected, thank you very much for the valuable information.
As for the BCM future development a "zombie" BCM will also deliver :)
In the meantime we will test internally the compatibility with MSSQL 2012.
I will update this thread with our findings.
Dear all
We will migrate all our MSSQL 2008 instances to MSSQL 2012.
Amongst these we have the BCM Database.
Will the BCM Database run on MSSQL 2012?
Any official statement regarding this scenario?
Thank you
W.
What about BCM and Windows 10?
Any official info regarding the setup BCM + Office (x) + Windows 10?
It's just a question of time until Windows 10 will be GA.
And another issue just appeared: aprox a month ago I've configured BCM for an user.
The configuration went incredibly well (no issues appeared).
Yesterday BCM crashed (it happens from time to time) and the addon was deactivated.
When trying to reactivate the addon and performing the...
There is an Outlook authentication in place (Domain\user) and a Windows local authentication (.\localPCadmin).
The PC is not a Domain member.
First I added the Outlook User via MSSQL Server Management Studio-> Security -> Logins -> New Login -> search user -> Domain\user
And using the DB Tool I...
I only noticed it today.
As you can tell from the screenshot I don't see any Cursor and I can't write a text in the Post reply section.
Maybe only my PC is impacted.
Dear all
I'm not sure if it's really the correct section to raise this issue.
I noticed that I'm unable to reply/post/create new threads using Chrome.
Currently I'm using IE.
Is this a new Forum "feature"?
Cheers
W
The Computer and the SQL host are not on the same Domain.
But like previously mentioned, a couple of weeks ago I successfully configured another PC and no issues appeared.
The SQL Authentication was configured using the SQL Mgmt Studio.
Dear all
I'm struggling again with another authentication issue.
A couple of weeks ago I successfully configured BCM on a Windows 7 Station and today I performed the exact same steps. Not sure why but today I can't find a solution for this authentication issue.
Steps performed:
- BCM 32bit...
I have one scenario in mind in this case:
- a shared database running on a server
- the machines are connecting to the shared database but no local copy is created
Would this be the setup that you want to achieve?
Hi John
My suggestion would be to setup a local database.
Additionally I've been recommending the BCM colleagues to work offline.
In order to to synchronize changes, the BCM users should go online.
Users can't always be online (at least in our case) and of course othe user experience is better...
The BCM colleagues would like the following option to be available:
- to create new users using template(existing) users and to be able to select which info gets copied (f.e. company -> company phone number should also be copied automatically; company address and so on)
