Non-Outlook items (bookmarks, photos) sync OK with iPhone. Outlook
calendars, contacts, and notes do not. iTunes 9.0 and iPhone OS 3.1 configuration and settings have been tested OK by Apple. I suspect my Outlook file definition (to integrate -.MSN Web mail with Outlook using Outlook Connector) is amiss: although Outlook e-mail syncs fine with Hotmail, the filename under Mail Setup shows as "not available" for my default mail account. (Chaning this to generic "Outlook.pst" made no difference.) Any thoughts?? Thanks.

I contacted Microsoft support regarding this issue. They indicated that the Outlook connector with MSN DOES NOT USE A PST FILE & the connector is now required to use MSN with outlook. They could not help me & referred me to Apple for a solution.
Instead, I found a way to sync my iphone with Outlook/connector. My work-around was to add my Cox cable (my internet provider) email to Outlook. I, then, made it my default. This created a PST file, which the IPHONE REQUIRES for syncing (according to Apple...contacted them as well) I, then, removed MSN & restarted Outlook. I added a contact & an appointment & then ran a sync. It completed normally. (No more error messages, either) I, then, re-added my MSN account, restarted outlook & tried another sync. Worked fine. I moved all my folders from my MSN account to the PST file under my Cox email; & I copy files I want to keep from MSN to appropriate files under my PST folder. Not perfect, but it does work. Hopefully, Apple will do something at their end. I hate Apple-Microsoft feuding... After copying emails I want to keep to the PST folder, I tend to delete them in my MSN folders, which, then deletes them from my MSN account. |
