we have much users from another country which connection to local exchange

2003 using pop3 & smtp. Some users complains the connection is slow

especailly when sending a large email. Is this is a only way to setup a more

extra server on their satellite site with smtp role to solve the problem or

any other procedure ?

thanks.

You could do that, yes. What is the speed of the link between the two sites?

Hi Michael

4up/4down, but there is not AD connection to the satellite site. Should i

create tree structure with AD & GC role with the new email server on the

satellite site as well.

thanks. or any other option. I m afraid AD replication will eat up all spare

connection. Thanks.

How much of the links are utilized right now? How many users at each site?

Is the only complaint slowness when sending SMTP mail?

Just out of curiosity, why are you using POP3/SMTP and not OWA or Outlook?

You can certainly do it. I would certainly move the mailboxes of those users

onto the Exchange server in their site. I would also add an AD DS domain

controller hosting the Global Catalog in each site if you don't have one

there already.
