When first starting the PC, Outlook wil not open, then the "send report to

MS" page opens. After that Outlook is frozen - messages are there but I

cannot open them. If I restart the PC, then usually I can open Outlook. I

might have to do it several times.

MS says "they are aware of problem, but have no fixes".

The error is App version 12.0.6316.5000 and the fault module is olmapi32.dll.

I have run office diagnostics and there is a "solution", and clicking on

this takes me to MS - but again, "they are aware of problem, but have no

fixes".

My wife has a separate user account on this PC and uses Windows Mail without

any problems.

Please help.

Does this also happen is Safe Mode (Start -> Run -> outlook /safe)?

Chech with the Task Manager's Processes tab that Outlook is not already

running before you start it.

Task Manager does not show Outlook to be running.

I am unable to run>outlook/safe - "windows cannot find".

When I try to open Outlook and it just sits there, if I go to Task Manager

("Outlook not responding") and close it, then, when I reopen it it says

Outlook did not close properly, does a quick scan, and the opens Outlook

correctly.

I read on the web that editing the registry by doing a search for olmapi32

and then deleting olmapi32.dll (after first backing up) may solve the problem.

What do you think?

That's because you neglected to include the space in front of "/safe". It's

outlook.exe /safe

not

outlook.exe/safe

Thak you - that worked.

Also, Outlook will open that way. What does this suggest to you as to why

Outlook does not want to open in the normal manner?

It means you have a malfunctioning add-in.

Thanks again. I disabled 3 of the add-ins (I suspect the Norton Junk email

filter may be the culprit) and it seems OK now. There are several MS add-ins

that I will never use, but it will not allow me to disable them -but if it

ain't broke, don't fix it.
