We're ready to add a 2nd CAS/Hub server to our Exchange farm, is there

anything I need to be careful before starting the installation?

Currently we have 2 mailbox servers running SCC mode, 1 CAS/Hub server and

we don't have an edge server, we have an appliance as our frontend/relay

server for spam control.

Appreciate your inputs.

Hi there,

You can add the Server in fine.

Be aware the Hub Transport Role will start working immediately for outbound

mail, as your Mailbox Server will pick it up and deliver between the

existing server and this new one. Obviously for inbound mail you will have

to add it to load balancing or configure NLB.

The CAS role will like above, need to be load balanced or again, configure

NLB.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for your response, in this case I have to make sure the appliance

will accept mail from the new hub server. At the moment, all external mail

is routed through smarthost which is the appliance. However, for internal

mail within the organization, it should work regardless?

Correct, but if you only have the one mailbox server, then it will only be

routing inbound/outbound, and not between Mailbox Servers or to Hub

Transport Servers in other AD Sites.

Also don't for the cfg of the CAS services.... esp with NLB. you have

to make sure your "availability" services are cfg propely.
