Is there a default I can set so that when I launch a Word attachment from an

email, it will open in Print Layout view? Currently when I open Word

attachments, the default seems to be to open in Full Screen Reading View.

Thanks.

Open Word. Click Tools>Options. On the General tab, uncheck "Allow starting

in Reading Layout". Click OK.

What version of Word is this suggestion for? I clicked Tools => Options =
General tab, and there is no such selection as "Allow starting in Reading

Layout."

Word 2003 and possibly earlier versions. I'm not at my system with Office

2007 right now, so can't check that. Why don't you start by including your

version of Outlook in your message?

There is no "General" tab in Word 2007. But the View tab has a Print Layout

segment wherin you can select the Print Layout option.

I have a different problem in printing an Outlook 2007 SP2/Windows 7

attachment where I want to print just a small selection, not the whole page.

The default is Print Memo Style -- no opportunity to print a selection as

was the case in Outlook 2003.

Someone suggested editing and saving as an HTML doc but I need to save the

attachment to a browser first. When I do this the half-page width selecion

when printed is spread over the full page width even with small type.

Since the section I want to print is a small table of figures I have been

copying and pasting it to Excel and printing from there. Buty either of these

methods is cumbersome and inferior to the direct selection-printing

capability in Outlook 2003.

Does anyone have a better suggestion?

Then don't try to hijack someone else's thread, especially an 11-month old

thread, for your different problem. Start your own NEW thread.
