No, you're not missing anything. For some reason they decided not to put in
the Copy/Paste commands in the main Outlook window by default.
CTRL+C copies the selected item(s) and CTRL+V will paste it.
If you are really missing the commands then you can customize the Ribbon to
show it or place the commands in the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT).
Right click anywhere on the Ribbon and choose Customize Quick Access
Toolbar... or Customize the Ribbon...
You can also use the Copy to Folder command which you can find by clicking
the Move button in the Ribbon when having an email message selected.
