w2k3 R2 EE SP2 ( current with updates) and Exchange 2003 Standard.

user1 has email forwarded to user2 at this time. Unable to stop forwarding

user1 email. user1 options are greyed out.

user1's mailbox is missing in Exch Sys Mgr. Appears to have been gone for a

few months. I am unable to find on backup tapes.

Questions are:

1. how is mail getting forwarded to user2 mailbox, if user1 mailbox does

not exist ?

2. user1 propeties in ADU&C indicates user1 has mailbox, but mailbox does

not exist in Exch Sys Mgr.

What is best way to add mailbox to user1 ?

3. best tool to use to review active directory settings?

Thanks

Define how it's forwarded. If you have set user2 as an alternate recipient

on user1's user object, then it never hits his mailbox; it just goes

straight to user2.

A mailbox is not created in the database until mail is sent to it or a user

logs on. If all mail is routed to user2 and user1 never logged on, a

mailbox would never have been created in the database.

User1 object exists in Active Directory. User1 has never logged on.

User1 was created and their email was immediately forwarded to user2.

User1's email is being forwarded by going to ADU&C, user1 properties,

Exchange General Tab, Delivery Options.

Under Forwarding address, the Forward to: is selected and user2 is

entered in the box to be forwarded to.

Currently it is greyed out and unable to stop the forward to.

Why is this option now greyed out ?

How to stop this forwarding to user2 and change forwarding to go to user3 ?

That would explain why the mailbox doesn't exist in Exchange; he's never

logged into it and the mail was always forwarded.

In fact, perhaps the user isn't even mailbox-enabled. Does his attributes

show that he has a mailbox? Try right-clicking the acocunt and selecting

Exchange Tasks. You should be able to remove the Exchange Attributes. Then

you can mailbox-enable the user.

Or, perhaps you don't have rights to modify the attribute.
