When i tried installing BCM for the first time on my vista laptop i got an error message that said..

Setup failed to install the required component Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (MSSMALBIZ)

After that error i did work with this stupid issue whole day,

Uninstalled SQL server, Removed SQL Native Client, Server setup support files, SQL server VSS writer and tried to run the second disk.

FAILED AGAIN with same error message.

Now i went to registry to remove the following keys..

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\microsoft.businesssolutions.ecrm.outlookaddin..connect.1

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-###\Software\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\E00686AB9D6929E4082F629B86B1A536

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{BA68600E-96D9-4E92-80F2-26B9681B5A63}

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSMLBIZ

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSSQLServer

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SQLServerAgent

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SQLAgent$

Then deleted the MS SQL server and tried again to install...

This time for my badluck i got ERROR: 1603

I came to know it had something to do with .Net Framework and so i removed .NET Framework and also Ran .Net framework clean up utility after which i tried installing .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 which had one more shock for me...

Again Error 1603 and said Installation of .Net Framework failed..!!!

Now i really donno what i can do to install BCM on my laptop..i wanted to try it so did all these steps wasting nearly half of my day and the funny thing is that i removed .Existing Net Framework 2.0 and now able to install that again.

Tried so High and got soooo far but in the End it doesnt even matter!!!! :(

HI,
Most of the time, error 1603 occurs due to MSXML 6.0 Parser file.
Once you uninstall the file from the computer, BCM installation would go smoothly.

Steps to uninstall MSXML 6.0 Parser file from the computer

Click on Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Program and Features and click on it,
it will display list of all your software which is installed on your Computer

Check for MSXML 6.0 Parser file in the list, if you find it select and uninstall it.

And then try to install BCM using the disc, you will be able to install BCM.
In case while uninstalling MSXML 6.0 Parser file if you get any error message then you need to download Windows installer Clean up Utility (WICU) and remove MSXML 6.0 Parser

Thank you for your reply Raju,

but really sorry to say that there is no MSXML parser found in Programs and Features..!!

Further action plans?

Try the following Knowledge Base article:-

When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or Windows Installer error code "1603"
