error 0x80040600 sending and receiving reporter error

I am getting error 0x80040600 when I try to send/receive email, it looks like my messages are being received but at the very end I get the error message and the messages don't appear in my inbox. I hav tried the inbox repair tool but it dosen't find any errors an dosen't fix issue.

Outlook 2002 SP3, I'm unsure of what you mean by account type

To know the account type setup in Outlook, try the following steps:

Open Outlook > click on Tools > Email Accounts
View or change existing email accounts > check the account type listed under TYPE

If you use a POP account in Outlook then try the steps given below to fix the issue:

Create a new Outlook profile using the steps given below and set it as default:

Once the new Outlook profile is set as default, open Outlook and import the old .PST file in the new profile using the steps given in the following link:
