Outlook 2007 will not download POP mail automatically

Outlook will not downoad email from Comcast until I send a test message. Test message is successful. Then I do manual send/receive and stored email downloads.

Have you specified a send/receive interval? Press Alt+Ctrl+S and check the box labeled "Perform an automatic send/receive every" and specify a value of 10 minutes.


Yes, my interval is 5 minutes.

Other info: I receive "0x80004005 operation faled" errors. I also have an Exchange account which connects to the office mail server--operates with no problems. I have checked my POP and SMTP settings with Comcast and they agree I am correct.

This error message is usually related to having a virus scanner integrated with Outlook. Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you'd still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus scanner. For more details see;
