Is an All Resources calendar possible in Exchange 2007/Outlook 2003

We have recently moved to exchange 2007 from, cough, mumble, 5.5. The clients are all 2003 and it is unlikely we will get budget to change that any time soon.

One of the things we have done is replace having individual public calendars for each resource to resource mailboxes.

One issue the users are having is that now, to just casually look up if a resource is booked on a certain date they have to open a pretend meeting request and add the resource in scheduling. This view is also less friendly than a calendar view.

The only other options I have found is to add the whole mailbox to thier profile or talk them through file, open, other user's mailbox every time. Most of our users are not technically minded and last time I did the file open thing on a calendar it took me ages to remember the wee icons down the bottom to get back to my inbox.

Is there a way to create a view only calendar that shows the items from combined mailbox calendars? This would be ideal. If not is there a way to add permanant views to the resource calendars without adding the entire mailbox?

Hi,

This is possibility for you. I don't know if it is suficient.
In the Outlook go to the Calendar. From the Actions menu choose View Group Schedules. Create a new for example under Resources name. Open it. Add all of the resources what you want to see. Press Save and Close.
Anytime the user want to see the combined calendar he/she have to open the Group Schedule created here.

Pretty close actually and is better than anything I have so far. Thanks for the swift reply.

Now, if I could only create a permanant, one click, calendar style view (with day, week, month options) to that information it would be perfect.

I'm also just looking at the possibility of viewing the calendar in sharepoint though we only have the free wss3.

I had also thought of trying to work out how to disable everything but the calendar in OWA for those accounts. These would not be combined resource views but they would be proper calendar views of what is going on for each resource.

Hi,

1. Actually what I wrote above is the best I can provide without programing, sorry.
2. About SharePoint. I've created a demo a year ago about how to display an Exchange 2007 calendar in SharePoint. You may see it. The only drawback of it the spoken language what is my native: Hungarian. Hopefully the visual part of it will be suficient:

You have to have Techsmith's codec to view it:

Genius and since the next thing I was going to be looking at was adding some of the sharepoint documents to the OWA then it has been doubly useful.

Given the auto authenticated version of the site I can actually just create calendars with defaulted home pages for those who want to look it up directly in Outlook. Pops up for auth, possibly due to it being a cut down version of the browser,  but you can tick to remember.
