When you open Outlook does it ask you if you want it to be the default e-mail client?

If not, go to File | Options and on the first tab (General) you should see a checkbox for making Outlook the default program.

Just in case you face difficulty in finding Outlook then follow the steps mentioned below to set outlook as the default email client.

Method 1:

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run

Copy and paste the following text in the Open field and then press Enter:

Outlook.exe /CheckClient

Outlook will prompt if you want to set it up as default email client, click yes.

Method 2:
1. Click Start.
2. Type "default programs" in the Start Search box.
3. Click Default Programs under Programs in the search results.
4. Now click "Set your default programs".

5. Highlight Microsoft Office Outlook or Microsoft Outlook on the left.
6. Click "Set this program as default".

7. Click OK.
