Hey Ganesh,

1) I needed to accesss my hotmail and use outlook functionality, so since my last post, I set up the hotmail account on a new machine.

Coincidentally, this new machine DOES appear to have internal clock issues which mean the Windows OS appears to slip about 12 hours to an incorrect time every few days. However, this entire problem predates the setup on the new machine.

2) I checked the BIOS time and the windows OS time on the original machine. Both are correct.

3) I tried the steps at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2231628

The lines
Error Synchronizing Folder
Error: cc
Server Command: CHANGE
Server Id: 1a043616-0a1c-4464-95ab-3fdf0d5fd804
Folder Name: DeletedFolderName

do not appear anywhere in the synch error log

4)I tried deleting the account from outlook on my original machine and then re adding the account to my old machine

5) I found this:-

17:24:58 Synchronizing Hierarchy

17:24:58 7 folder(s) updated in online store

17:24:58 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'Inbox'

17:24:58 Error synchronizing folder

17:24:58 [80041004-0-0-430]

in an older copy of the sych issues email, which appears to show a slightly different chronology of error generation to the " network operation failed" in my original post. This error log was from before I tried the steps at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2231628 and the deletion and recreation of the account in outlook 2003.

Clearly, this earlier log implies the problem is with my inbox email, but that the problem has now become one of " network operation failed" instead, as detailed in my original post.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2231628 suggests:-

a) copy the problem folder,

b) delete the original

and c) resynch.

However - the inbox cannot be copied in the web client, or deleted.

The Complete synch issues file is posted at http://pastebin.com/gAxjaVnK

There appears to be two seperate errors listed in the log, or maybe the second error (" network operation failed" ) is used later as a return code to summarise the earlier (" error synchronizing your folder hierarchy" ) error.

I therefore still appear to be no closer to getting outlook to synch on the original machine.

Also try to uncheck the "Check for server certification Revocation "Option from the internet explorer.

Open Internet Explorer > Click on Tools >Internet Options > Advanced Tab > in "security" section uncheck the option "Check for Server Certificate Revocation".

Restart Internet Explorer as well as Outlook and check if you are able to download the messages from the server.

I don't know what changed, but it just started working again. Very odd.

Always annoying when you rsolve a problem but don't know how :p

I therefore have no idea whether anything you said helped. Or if it was something else i did. I did remove a virus/rootkit of some sort the other day, which appears to have come in through unpatched software i had installed.

Anyway, thanks for your attention.

Steven.
