Why does outlook use standard TCP/IP when configured to use RPC/HTTPS?

Hi,

I'm wondering why outlook 2007 insists upon using TCP/IP to connect to exchange (as seen in the connection status window) when it is configured to use outlook anywhere first on both slow and fast networks?

The only thing I can think of is that outlook will use HTTPS first, and then check to see whether it can connect using MAPI (which it can) and then reverting to MAPI automatically. Is this the case?

Never mind - this is exactly what was happening, because RPC over HTTPS wasn't working correctly and it was failing back to MAPI. Disabling the MAPI failback with a registry change made the issue clear.
