" 0x8004010F: Outlook data file cannot be accessed"

Standalone workstation having broadband connectivity, multiple POP3 accounts (all handled viaOUTLOOK 2003, then 2007, and nowOUTLOOK 2010 ß). Had aFIXED DISK DRIVE FAILURE that was assigned volume letter “E”, with the “DEFAULT SYSTEM FOLDERS” located this drive not [% SYSTEMDRIVE% \Users]. Thus the “Default Local User Profile” [%UserProfile%] managed to get “trashed”. Many logged errors “User Profile Service" , and had Office 2010 ß installed. Restarting system and any attemptedOutlook 2010 ß restart;Outlook 2010 ß would not “open”. Ran Registry Mechanic, and removed all SID"s [S-1-5-21 . . . . .]; rebooted. Seems like we have some “pointing”[%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users], see XLM error log,Known Folders Operational Log below, but not complete or clean. Re-Installed (repair)OFFICE 2010 ß, no change; rebooted. UninstalledOFFICE 2010 ß, rebooted, ran Registry Mechanic, rebooted.

InstalledOFFICE 2010, can “open”OUTLOOK 2010,CAN SEE ALL EXISTING FOLDERS AND THE CONTENTS OF THE FOLDERS (email, appointment, calendar et al),all accounts (and even passwords) exists, all “rules” intact, and EVEN TEST EMAILS WORK!!! - BUT THE ERROR -> -> " 0x8004010F: Outlook data file cannot be accessed" when attempting any “send & receive” - RAN SCANPST.EXE, let it “REPAIR”, still " 0x8004010F: Outlook data file cannot be accessed" - ANY IDEAS???

SYSTEM WILL BE REBUILT WITH FOUR [4] NEW 2 TB WDC RE4 RAID IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS PLUS DX 11 VIDEO CONTROLLER; must have full and complete access and control of all the records on that PST on the rebuilt workstation, and would like so now. Trying to control almost 500+ messages per day via five different web mail portals, plus calendar and appointments is “not working”; I am getting “very backed up”, “not responding in a timely manner “, and just “missing visibility of messages”; I need the “automation & functionality” of OUTLOOK 2010 NOW.

What I would like to do is the following if possible . . .

N O W:

- OUTLOOK 2010 Resolve Error " 0x8004010F: Outlook data file cannot be accessed" - Allowing mail to be “sent & received”; keep as much from existing intact as possible, “accounts”, “folders”, “rules” et al.

- OFFICE 2010 - Any Required Preparation For The “Rebuild”?

Thanks,

Tim

Refer the link below which describes the same.

Forgot to mention, did that also . . . Went through about a dozen other KB items all with no luck. Just hoping some other route other that " shipping" the PST off, ot bringing Microsoft Consulting in for a day or two; both those option will run into the thousands of dollars from past discovery.

Thanks,

Tim

Ok, this is getting " REAL CONFUSING" , " REAL FAST" , as I am beginning to lose track of what I have tried and not tried, having viewed and/or tried 100"s of Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles,TechNet, MSDN, and Partner Resources.

Recapping, Microsoft Office Profession Plus 2010 14.0.4760.1000 (64-bit), specificallyOutlook 2010 (64-bit), FACT IS THAT, ALL DATA & INFORMATION SEEMS “INTACT”, ALL “ACCOUNT & PASSWORDS” REMAIN, ALL “RULES” REMAIN, ALL “CONTACTS” APPEAR, TEST EMAILS “WORK” ON ALL ACCOUNTS; just the fact thatOutlook 2010 (64-bit) does not wish to or cannot “read/write” from the relocated “data file” to do a critical fixed disk failure that required emergency relocation of said file.

SINCE DATA IS INTACT I WOULD PREFER NOT TO LOOSE ANYTHING AT THIS POINT IN TIME, but so far, many of the options presented so far will result in some degradation of “critical data” that would be extremely time consuming to recreate; that is the destruction of “account & password” data (especially as in my case with many accounts, and some have very “complex secure setups”), that seems to be common amongst all solutions. Another common issue with many solutions is that “rules”, are just “gone”.

I have “created” a new profile,OL_MAIL, along with the default profile “Outlook”, using another “dummy”POP3 account that I have that is not used for anything and a new directory (for a “new” data file, or possibly moving existing data file) on the “boot volume”, [%SYSTEMDRIVE%\OL_MAIL].

One other possible option to try before trying to “move” the existing “data file” file to the new directory [%SYSTEMDRIVE%\OL_MAIL], and placing “sandbox security” upon it, and changing all “pointers” to that location is as follows.

One could “delete” all existing accounts in existing profile, “Outlook”, and “recreate” all said accounts anew; concern here is “linkage”. That is “linkage” between “rules” and possible other items that may be “broken” by this procedure, I am not sure if any “linkage” would be “broken”, and need to find out real fast.

Another option if everything else “fails”, is maybeMicrosoft Office Profession Plus 2010 14.0.4760.1000 (64-bit), specificallyOutlook 2010 (64-bit), could be run under a “virtual machine” (VM) withWindows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) as the OS as a “separate instance” and “new install” unique to that VM.

Thanks,

Check if the steps mentioned below help resolve the issue:

Remove the Read Only file property. To do this, right-click the Backup PST file, click Properties, click to clear the Read Only check box, and then click OK. Now check if the issue occurs.
