(This question was asked in June but even though no answer was given, it was marked as answered. So I'm asking it again.)

My Outlook 2007 Reading Pane has been working fine for the last 3 years - using Vista. Yesterday Outlook suddenly said it needed to close and reopen. When it reopened, the Reading Pane was gone and " Reading Pane" in the View menu was grayed out so I can't reactivate it.The problem is persisting even after rebooting.

Thanks!

Hi

Try the following process

(1) Safe Mode outlook start

Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

Try to start the reading pane now (if not try the following)

(second) Remove and/or check addins that might have affected this situatin

(2) Repair

Depending on your version of Office/Outlook and/or Windows, you'll have several of the following options available to you to start one of the above processes

Help-> Detect and Repair…

Help-> Office Diagnostics…

(3) Look into the following two links for addditional information if the above did not work

Thanks, the first option worked.

When I reopened Outlook in regular mode the Reading Pane was on. The option to change the Reading Pane setting is still grayed out; so I'll need to remember this trick if I need it again.

Thanks very much!
