We have this exchange server and this user from outside our network who has an exhchange account can't configure his outlook to connect to our exchange server. His computer is not part of our DC and everytime he tries to configure outlook it simply can't connect. I had him connect to our network using vpn, still no go. He can login fine from OWA.

As far as I was told by the previous exchange administrator, outlook everywhere is not enabled. I'm not an exchange admin and not sure what the issue is. I connect to exchange from my android phone fine, why can't outlook connect?

Would greatly appreciate any help.

This is because outlook uses a different protocol other than what android is using, it uses MAPI while android uses HTTPs, thus you need either VPN connectivity or outlook anywhere to be enabledRegards, Mahmoud Magdy Watch Arabic Level 300 Videos about Exchange 2010 here: http://vimeo.com/user3271816 Read pretty advanced Exchange stuff I post here: http://www.enowconsulting.com/ese/blog.asp, follow my blog: http://autodiscover.wordpress.com , corp blog: http://ingazat.wordpress.com, Follow me on twitter http://www.twitter.com/_busbar and if you Liked my post please mark it as helpful and accept it as an answer

Trying a step by step approach

from vpn , in server settings put the fqdn of cas server, then your alias.. when you try to get check name resolved,. if it is not then it is not able to access dc, gc server on certain ports.

Hi,

What's error you got when configuring outlook profile?

Can other users connect your exchange server through VPN?

After connecting to VPN, Please also try to ping the FQDN of your domain controller from the client and see if you can get a reply.
