Cannot send to one or more delegates

If I make an appointment and try sending to one of my distribution lists, I always get the error message 'Cannot send to one or more delegates'. I am not an exchange server so not sure how it is picking up delegates. Have deleted and recreated distribution list with the same results. But if I go into Contacts and select the distribution contact it will let me send appointments with no error messages. Not sure If I did something wrong when I made it. Help Please !!

The company is not on an Exchange Server, so this article doesn't really apply to me.
