Problems sending emails. Do you think the account is incorrectly set up?

I am unable to send emails using Outlook. I have tried many times and a couple of times I did receive an error message. Sorry, but have forgotten the actual wording now. I tried to send a message today and I am not even able to click on the new email icon.

Can anyone help shed some light on this problem please?

Let's start with the basics - What kind of account is this? POP3? IMAP? Hotmail? Exchange? Something else?

Have you tried contacting your mail hosting provider (AOL? RoadRunner? Yahoo! Somebody else?) and asking them to help you get it configured properly?
