Configure outlook client after migrate mailbox from exchange 2003 to 2010

I saw some information mention that outlook should be configured again after migrated mailbox from exchange 2003 to 2010. But my environment, it seem doesn't work. I have installed the new certification into CAS. When i finished to migrate user mailbox from exchange 2003 to 2010, the users complained that their outlook client didn't work. I found the outlook client still try to connect old mail server. I have set " AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI" , " WebServicesVirtualDirectory" and " OABVirtualDirectory" ... but outlook still could not automatic point to new CAS server. Pls advice. !!

Below wording find in internet which mention that outlook client will automatic point to new CAS after migrated mailbox from 2003 to 2010.

After moving mailboxes off of Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, leave the Exchange 2003 infrastructure in place for a couple (2) weeks. By leaving the old Exchange 2003 server(s) in place, when an Outlook client tries to connect to the old Exchange 2003 server for its mail, the old Exchange 2003 server will notify the Outlook client software that the user"s mail has been moved to the Exchange 2010 server and will automatically update the user"s Outlook profile with the new destination server information. Thereafter, when the Outlook client is launched, Outlook will access the user"s mailbox on the new Exchange 2010 server

It should automatically re-home if the Exch 2003 server is still up and operational (all services started and databases mounted). Did you restart the Outlook client after the migration? What is the exact error message? What version of Outlook?

Do you have Outlook 2003 in use? If so, you need to check the encryption box in your Outlook account settings. See:
Outlook connection issues with Exchange 2010 mailboxes because of the RPC encryption requirement

This settings is already set for Outlook 2007 and 2010 and apparently is disabled with Exchange 2010 SP1.

If this is not the case, could you provide some more information?

Hi,

Actually, Outlook profile will be redirected to the new server automatically after migrating the Exchange server. Regarding to the function, please refer to the following article:

http://theessentialexchange.com/blogs/michael/archive/2008/05/15/outlook-profile-redirection.aspx

Please answer Tim"s question and let us know the detail version of Outlook and the detail error message when trying to launch Outlook. If Outlook 2003 is used, the issue can be caused by encryption settings as Dave mentioned. Please take your time to perform his suggestion for a test.

Meanwhile, please refer to the following article to troubleshoot the issue.

Thanks.
