Hello all

We are running Exchange 2010 sp1 and all clients are running outlook 2010. Is it possible to force all external outlook anywhere clients to use *online mode* while at the same time allowing internal clients to still use cached mode? Could this be done by modifying the autodiscover xml file? We want to prevent externally connected clients from being able to cache a local copy of there mailbox.

thanks

The only way would be via Group Policy. It cannot be done via autodiscover.
It will also mean very poor performance for those remote users, as the entire mailbox will be coming across live. If you don't want them to cache the mailbox, use OWA or Terminal Services. They will not be able to work offline without cached mode, so the limitations are the same, just without the significant bandwidth requirement to run Outlook at any decent speed.

Simon.
