Hello, I have designed a couple of forms in Outlook 2010 (both customised Contacts forms), gone File, Save As, named them, as 'Outlook Template' under Save As Type box, saved to my H drive (NOT to the default templates location otherwise I won't be able to find them to do what I try to do next..), then so I can have quick access to them in my Outlook Folder List, I've tried dragging them into a new folder in Outlook. This is so I don't have to access the cumbersome way, by going: Home tab, New Items, More Items, Choose Form, Look in..." etc, But, the error message I get when I try dragging them into a new folder in Outlook is per attached... Any ideas?Basically I want quick and access to the templates/forms I've created. Many thanks Steph

That dialog can't be worked around - short of removing the custom fields in your template. They need loaded through the Forms dialog. (Saving to that location then opening the Templates folder as a link on the Task Bar won't work either - they need opened through Outlook.) The other option is publish them - they will be listed on the New Items, Custom Forms flyout when viewing the default folder of the form type (if you publish to outlook folders). If you publish to the folder you work in the most, the form will be listed on the menu when you work in that folder. It can be a problem if you need to access the form from other folders though - you'll need to browse for it.

Are you trying this just to save time loading them? If so, add the Choose form button to the QAT or a ribbon. This saves a couple of steps as it opens directly to the Choose form dialog.

Thanks-I'm having some trouble doing what you propose. Would you mind advising how to do this: "The other option is publish them - they will be listed on the New Items, Custom Forms flyout when viewing the default folder of the form type (if you publish to outlook folders). If you publish to the folder you work in the most, the form will be listed on the menu when you work in that folder."

Do you have the Developer ribbon visible? If not, see http://www.outlooktutor.com/Config/Show_Developer_Ribbon.aspx

The Publish button is on the Developer ribbon - you'll have a choice of folders to publish to - if you publish a Contact form to the Outlook folders, when you are in Contacts, you'll have the form on the New Items menu. If you select the Inbox, you'll have it on the New Items menu when working in the Inbox.

Thank you! I couldn't see it under New Items yesterday - but can today for some reason! Thanks for your help.
