Move outlook 2010 profile from one computer to another

Hi Experts

I have upgraded my old laptop that has windows 7 ultimate and outlook 2010 used for work domain (IMAP not POP3) ,,,,,I backuped the outlook profile from this location below :

C:\Users\nelson\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Then I copied the backup to a new laptop that has windows 7 ultimate and outlook 2010 as well and to same location above.

sending and receiving emails working fine but I lost the auto complete email addresses from the new laptop

Wouldn't copy the complete profile should copy every thing (email,setting ,calender,,,,etc ) ?

Some things are in the Roaming folder path. C:\Users\nelson\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

Since you had 2010 on the old computer, you won't have an NK2 - it no longer uses it. You can start a new message, select all addresses in the Suggested Contacts and in the Contacts folder and add them to the message. Close it without sending.

That's to be expected - Outlook 2010 doesn't use an NK2 - only Outlook 2007 or 2003 uses NK2. Only if you upgraded from an old version would you have the NK2.

Yes Diane I am aware of that, I did not say that outlook 2010 uses .NK2 for the address book.

My issue I have got outlook 2010 on both computers where can I locate a file that has all email addresses on the old computer to move it to the new computer ?

They are in your data file. Did you move the pst? If so, you should have the contacts. If they aren't populating the address book when you press To, make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is the box to enable as email address book is checked?




If this is grayed out... you'll need to make a new profile as you can't repair the Outlook Address Book service.




If the address book ahs contacts in it but they don't show up when you start typing in the To field, you need to repopulate the autocomplete cache. D. told you have to do that already. :)
