Upgraded to Outlook 2007 from Outlook 2003. After upgrade problems began. Outlook will be connected and lose its connection and a message will appear in the bottom right hand corner stating "Trying to connect to Microsoft exchange". It will sit there and eventually disconnect you from the server. The only way to correct the problem and reconnect to the server is to close the program and disconnect the internet modem and reboot the modem. Any suggestions on what maybe causing the problem?

Did you make a new profile? I'd try that first.

You can also ctrl+right click on the outlook icon in the tray and choose Connection status. It might not be much help, but you can 'watch' the disconnects and see if one area is the problem.

I can not create a new profile. I am operating on a company pc. When Outlook goes down, we can access the internet and visit any website, but the Outlook application will not work nor will the web access site. When attempting to access the web access internet site you get a message stating the page can not be displayed, but google or any other website can.

So you are using online mode. Are you the only one affected or do others also have a problem?

Oh wait, you say when Outlook is offline, you can't access it using OWA either? That sounds like something on the server side, not on the client side.

The admin needs to check the server logs for clues, but one possible issue could be this - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019948 - however there are many others possible causes too.
