Is IMAP automatically refreshed when clicking the folder?

I usually use POP3 and manually trigger mail download with F9. However, I also have one IMAP account. It's not in the active send/receive groups for some reason :) and I was wondering, do I have to manually "refresh" it with Send/Receive when I want to check for new mail there, or does Outlook automatically refresh it when I click to view its Inbox?

Outlook should automatically poll the IMAP folder when you click a folder - so, yes, when you switch to the imap's inbox, it should be updated. Switch to a different imap folder and outlook will update it.

work offline should prevent the folder from updating but its my experience that imap accounts ignore the offline setting.
