Emails stuck in Outbox, not receiving emails, Outlook 2010 auto send/receive

Recently, we have had issues with the automatic send/receive within Outlook 2010. Emails are getting stuck in the outbox, they are not always being received automatically and sometimes not at all unless we reboot our computer. I have already changed the automatic send/receive to 1 minute and made sure that the "Disable scheduled send/receive" button is NOT checked. We have tried moving emails from the Outbox to drafts and resent them from there. This sometimes works, sometimes not but it can be very time consuming with the volume of emails that we send. We have also resent the emails from the other email address that we have set up in Outlook which, again, sometimes works, sometimes not and is very time consuming. I would appreciate any advice/fixes that anyone may offer. Thank you for your time!

1. Set the autosend and receive to at least 5 -8 minutes. Higher if you send and receive a lot of mail. You want to be sure one mail pass is finished before the next one starts. Set outlook to send immediately - if you want to hold the mail for a little bit, you can use an after sending rule to delay sending for up to 120 minutes.

Does mail send if you don't look in the outbox? If so, this is caused by an addin - iCloud, onenote addin, and anyivirus scanners are the usual culprits, but there are others. See Messages are stuck in the Outbox - Slipstick Systems for other causes.

I too am having problems in that outgoing emails are getting stuck in my outbox. I am using Outlook 2007 on my laptop and am getting a message which states"Outlook cannot connect to the outgoing SMTP email server. Contact Server Administrator or ISP"

The error code is 0x80042109 and I have contacted TalkTalk (my ISP), who have stated that my.

smtp is TalkTalk and that the port is 587.

Entering this info has made no difference to the problem, even after disabling AVG's ability to scan all emails.

My laptop is using Windows 8.

I have also checked progress of emails when asking them to send, which sometimes states that they have been sent!

I have also tried dragging the emails into the Draft section, opening them and sending, all to no avail. Can anyone resolve???

Does it work if you use Safe mode?

To open Outlook in Safe mode: Close Outlook then hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon. You'll get a message asking if you want to start in Safe mode. Click Ok.

On the More Settings, Outgoing server tab, are you authenticating with the server? When you set port 587, did you also set it to use SSL?
