In the body of an outlook email, if I type

Bob@Bob.com

outlook makes it a mailto: hyperlink

but if I type

Bob.O'brien@Bob.com

in outlook it is treated as text. How can I get Outlook to make an email address with a single quote in it a mailto: link ?

Thanks,

Dutch

The tried and true wrap-in-angle-brackets trick does not work. Adding mailto: works, but the display name includes it - you can backspace the hyperlink to remove mailto:, so you only see the address.

If it's something you need to type often, you can create a formatted autocorrect for it - something like emailbob converts to the formatted hyperlink.

is there a configuration in outlook to treat all mailto: links as plain text?

no, it's all internet protocols are none. The problem here is the ' - outlook is not recognizing it as a valid characters for an email address.
