My wife gets a lot of retail coupons for half off discounts, etc. These of course need to be printed. One in particular from Macy’s has some images that refuse to download. See attached jpg. Outlook 2010 is set to allow all images as is Yahoo.com mail. I cannot print this email wireless from either Outlook or Yahoo mail. I managed to forward it to my tower PC with direct USB connection to printer and still no print. It’s like it wants to fetch the images before printing but can’t get them. I finally had to use Win7 snipping tool to grab an image to print the bar code sans images (which no one wants anyway).

I was first encouraged to find that Outlook 2010 on laptop was NOT set to allow images but after enabling and rebooting, it still did not work. 99% of images do seem to have been coming down all along in spite of that being off in Outlook. Just found down load images switch was OFF in my Outlook, but have never seen a problem with missing images. ???

Is there a 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] place to say “gimmie all images no matter what”?

Thanks.

PS: just remembered that on printing with ctrl/P, the printing hangs on the "connecting to printer" process. it never connects. that is Outlook hangs as non responsive and needs to be killed/restarted. This happens same way on both laptop and tower, HOWEVER, the tower will print via the print-preview function on Quick Access Toolbar but laptop will not. Get same hang condition as with ctrl/P.

i never get good rewards. :( Do the images download if you hit forward? There is only the blocked external content setting that would apply. The other option is to show picture placeholders only but you wouldn't see any pictures that way.

I'll have to go back and try a fwd. My original post was in error on one point. My logic was inverted in the Outlook setting to trust center setting "Don't allow.... to download....". it was originally set to allow (correct setting) then I set to "disallow" while in an apparent confused state.

we don't really care about viewing the images, just want it to print, but won't print if the images are not there apparently. This particular Macy's promo is so far the only apparent offender in this area, so may be a fluke.

thanks for the feedback.

I'll test other macy's emails. Hitting forward should force the download, which will allow the print.

Can you think of any reason Outlook 2010 would fail to print over network? Used to work. The printer twitches, but no print and nothing in print queue. Started with balking at coupons, now no print at all. Can print with direct connect to printer and Word and other apps print over network. Did a "repair" of Office 2010 but not full uninstall/reinstall of Office. Can't seem to just reinstall Outlook like under XP and Office 2003. I have been playing with msconfig and removing unwanted processes but don't think I removed anything relevant.

Thanks for any ideas.

The only things I can think of are problems with the printer driver or security software - firewalls especially. Any Windows updates installed right before it started acting up? do you use security software suites like Norton 360 or the suite from McAfee?

Thanks for the reply. I'll do some checking and report back.
