Anyone know how to transfer Outlook Express "Identities" to Outlook 2010 ...

... while keeping those "identities" (or profiles in 2010) separate and distinct?

I've spent weeks on trying to make this conversion and want to make sure that I do it properly so that I don't spend even more time and then have to undo it all.

I have five e-mail accounts that I use for business purposes, and each must remain separate and distinct from the others for varying reasons. Here's the rub, I'd like to be able to do this so that I do not have to shut down Outlook 2010 each and every time and then restart it. I'd simply like to change "identities"/profiles as was possible from the "File" menu in OE. It does not appear that that is possible at the moment. Am I wrong? If so, how do I arrange that?

Thus far I've ascertained that it will be better to export the files from OE to 2010.

I have both installed on the same PC.

I've perused this forum and found one similar thread from three years ago, but it still did not provide the answers.

I've been vexed by this for weeks and it's ground my productivity to a halt. I cannot get a new PC on my work desk until I can achieve this.

Outlook doesn't have an automated option like OE did - switching id's closed and reopened OE but no one knew that. :)

Outlook 2010 does a good job at keeping accounts separate so you could use one profile and add all 5 accounts to it. You could use a registry key to force account selection every time - it's annoying, but it is an option. Outlook, Multiple Accounts and the Default Account - Slipstick Systems
