Running OL 2007 with BCM 2007 on W7 and all was fine until I hit what I believe to be the SQL Express Database database limit of 3.3Gb, that I have read in other threads

A colleague pointed me to this MS info http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/editions/2012-editions/express.aspx which states that the 2012 SQL Database Express version has an increased 10Gb capacity which is more than enough for me

Is it possible, and if so how, to upgrade the underlying SQL Express Engine to this 2012 version ?

If its not possible, if I upgrade to OL 2010/BCM 2010, does this come with a higher SQL Express database limit (i beyond 3.3Gb ?)

If I need to supply any more info please ask, thanks in advance for any guidance

Cheers

Tim

you should be able to disconnect the db from one server and connect it to the other one, however, several people who did it said they could not increase the database size. I don't know if it was "user error" and they didn't change the database size setting or if it was a legit problem.

Upgrading to 2010 won't change it - the basic limit is still the same.

Thanks for this, I did not have the confidence to install SQL Express 2012 on the same machine as the existing SQL Express version, just in case. However I did update to Office 2010 with BCM 2010 and the database limit rose to 4Gb, allowing me to import my existing data. However, BCM 2010 seems a bit different in that there is not a consolidated view of the Contact History of all contacts, thus I have no idea how to manually remove the oldest contacts to reduce the database (as I don't see an archive function either), as I am nearing the 4Gb limit with no way to know how to reduce the size. apologies for the basic question
