Hi,

My company recently installed Business Contact Manager 2010 on a few desktops. I found the BCM 2010 server database tool and installed it on my company's SBS 2003 server.

I am having difficulty connecting the Business Contact Manager that is on my desktop to the server database tool. I put in the name of the computer (server's name) but it cannot find it.

The server is running SQL Server 2005 but I do not know which Service Pack/version.

When I open the database tool to share the database, it gives BKUPEXEC as the Database Server Instance. Is this ok? If not, how do I change the instance? My company is currently using Backup Exec so I do not want to make any changes that will cause Backup Exec to not work.

Thank you.

It shouldn't be a problem, but you could install a second instance for BCM. Is your computer logging into the network? If not, you need an account on the sql server for the same username as you use to log into the computer. Same password too.

Make sure the firewall is configured to allow sql - it should be since you use backup exec, but that may use a custom port.

See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook-bcm/configuring-bcm-share-sql-server-database/ for other things to check.

to create a sql instance, you rerun sql setup - the default name it wants to use should be fine.

How do you re-run sql setup on a Windows SBS 2003 server which has SQL 2005?

Thank you.
