When updating shared calendar, it does not automatically update personal calendar

One of my customers is wondering weather they can create an event in a shared company calendar such as an appointment, which automatically updates her personal calendar with the appointment.

Is this a syncing issue? Permissions?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you Diane! I thought this might be the case in the beginning when I working on the issue.
I will look into the third party applications and see if they are any good.
