Dear BCM users,

we have a newer issue with our BCM contacts:

accounts seem to be deleted.

when looking in the dbo.ContactMainTable the account dataset is still there, but with the wrong Type. Instead of Type 2 (account contact) the Type is changed to 1 (business contact). Outlook does not show this contact, nor as account neither as business contact.

After changing the field to value '2' the account is correctly shown again by BCM Outlook Addin.

I can't understand the cause of the change. In BCM there is no way to change an account to a bussiness contact or the other way round.

Any ideas?

thx

Tobias

yes indeed, we use "Outlook Sync DB" by "Andreas Schultz Software" to sync the BCM contacts (type '7'/ projects excluded) with the "my contacts" folder of the exchange accounts. He assured us that the type field isn't been synchronised within the sql statement.
Is there any type filed at all in the exchange contact?

In a contacts folder, there isn't a 'type' field, outlook uses message class to separate it's two types- contacts and distribution list. It also supports custom fields, so software could add it and Exchange would ignore it.

Are you syncing accounts and contacts? If he isn't syncing the field but you are syncing both types, i can see that it could be possible that it's being changed during the sync.

thanks Diane,

but why it does that only in a few cases (not more than 2-3 contacts are being changed in a month in that way)? we sync every 30 minutes...

For excluding the cause you mentioned I change the sql statement for only syncing the type '1' datasets.

That is the $64M question. :) Is it always the same ones or is there a pattern? Like maybe only ones you edit on a device or outside of BCM are affected. If so, the editing process does something that makes the sync see it as a contact instead of an account.
