I'm sure this has been answered, but I did a search and did not find the answer, so apologies if this is obvious and answered.

I have an .OST from a damaged (Windows 10/Office 365/Outlook 2016) system that I converted to PST using a recommended converter. The .PST that I have I am prepared to import into Outlook 2016, but I am not clear on how or whether or not I can import the data including emails and then reconnect it with the IMAP account already set up on the new PC in Windows 10.

Is there a tool or a procedure or are these "orphaned" emails so I should somehow delete them then import or connect my contacts and calendar events to the existing IMAP email account that's already set up in the new, installed copy of Outlook 2016 on a new PC laptop?

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Sincerely,
joeldm

So the pst has email that is already on the server? I'd open the pst in outlook using File, Open, Outlook data file then you can delete the old mail you have on the server. You can set this pst as the default data file so outlook uses it for the calendar and contacts.

If you have a pst in the profile, you can import just the calendar folder from this pst and then repeat the steps for contacts, then for tasks.

If I understand what you're asking, I set up this email account, let's call it me@mymail.com via IMAP in Outlook 2016 before importing the converted .OST file which is now a .PST file. I put the .PST file in Documents under its own folder named "Outlook PST" and then went into File/Account Settings/Data Files (tab) and then clicked on "Add" and browsed to the converted .PST file in the above-mentioned Documents/Outlook PST folder.

This created a new line in the left in the Folders Bar where a new down-arrowed list was created called "Stellar OST to PST Converted" which down-arrows showing all of the mailbox folders.

Above that is the newly-created IMAP mail account which is currently importing new mails and working fine. What I need to do is to either connect that IMAP account to the imported PST data (Calendar, People & etc) or I need sync the two in some manner and get rid of the superfluous IMAP data/mail/mail account (however one looks at that) or sync the two together into one working whole as it was before the computer crashed and I had to recreate it with an OST conversion and import.

I think what you said was to open the PST and delete that mail which HAD been on the server, but which is now static within the imported PST file, is that right? If you're saying delete the mail off of the current, active IMAP server, won't I lose all new mail? I must not understand that part.

Also, by "if you have a pst in the profile" do you mean the imported PST data into the IMAP account somehow? I also do not understand that, I'm sorry.

In the Account settings window and in the E-mail tab there is ONE account, the recreated IMAP account which I made by putting in the email username and password and custom credentials to connect to the Dreamhost mail servers and begin sending and receiving email (it's the default account of course). Under the Data Files tab there is that IMAP account PST and the Stellar OST to PST Converted PST file. The "converted" one is the selected default there. The rest of the tabs are empty except the Address Books where it says: Name: Outlook Address Book and Type: MAPI.

The imported calendar and address book both are working and complete.

I apologize for the long email. Can you give me further guidance on how to get this email account and the Calendar and Address Book data that I added over time to create the OST file which I converted into the PST that was used to import this data, combined into one seamless whole again?

Thank You!
