Outlook 2013 Macro to scan email distribution list when replying

Hi All:

Not sure if something like this is possible, but when I reply to an email, I like denote who I might have added or removed from the distribution so folks on the reply chain can see.

  • For example, if I reply to an email thread and add Peter to the chain, I write "+Peter" up top of the email text
  • Likewise, if I remove Mary from a reply chain, I write "-Mary" up top of the email chain
Is there a Macro/VBA code out there that can scan a current distribution and compare to the previous to denote the differences (with the output placed in the email itself)?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not aware of any that do this, but it could be possible. Because you need to create an array of the original list and compare it to named on the new list, it might be slow.

The check for different domains macro at Warn Before Sending Messages to the Wrong Email Address uses an array which could probably be easily tweaked to look for different names. Once you get the names, insert them into the body is a piece of cake.
