So recently I've noticed mine and everyone else's Outlook within the organisation Outlook freezes multiple times a day from anywhere between 30 to 50+ times a day. It's almost unusable at some points in the day. Our mail-provider is Office365 and running Outlook 2016
We have 'Use Cached Exchange Mode' turn off as this speeds up the searching (which we do a lot of) in the Shared Mailbox.
Here's what happens;

Any suggestions/ideas? It's close to going out the door!

It's most likely related to not using cached mode - as outlook needs to connect to the server every time you switch folders. Even on a fast pipe, it won't take too many users hitting the server at the same time to create a bottleneck.

At the very least, use cached mode for mailboxes and turn off caching for shared folders. That should help some - but it may still hang a bit when you switch to the uncached shared folders.

Thanks for the response back Diane. I thought it may have been to do with the caching mode. The reason we turned this off was because it increased the performance when searching in a shared mailbox. Do you have any ideas on how to increase the performance of searching when using caching?

Many Thanks.

No, I don't. I had never noticed performance problems, but i don't search the shared boxes more than once a day, if that, which makes it harder to notice problems.

My only suggestion would be a 3rd party search utility - which might even be able to search all shared folders at once.
