Exchange 2007 on 2003SP2 Migration to Exchange2007 on Win2008 problems !!!

Ahmad

I have Exchange 2007 on windows 2003SP2 "server-01" / I have a remote
windows 2008 "server-02" , I did add it as additional DC
with the server-01, once Server-2 is a DC did isolate it to Server-02 and
used Seize commands for transferring roles of AD
so now Server -02 has no relation to server-01.
I did install Exchange

Now I want to migrate my mail server

I did:
1- I got the Exchange Server-01 DB simounted , then i verified it using that
command and it was in shutdown state:
eseutil /mh 'Mailbox Database.edb'

2- I did place it on the server-02 with keeping the same path as the one on
server-01

3- [PS] C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange\Mailbox\First Storage
Group>Get-Mailbox
-Database Server-01\"Mailbox Database" | Move-Mailbox -targetdatabase
server-
02\"Mailbox Database" -ConfigurationOnly:$true

4- I did reboot the server , then I did add my mailbox as existing user.

5- I did access the OWA , i see NO mails was presenting there.

Also I wanted to migrate using transport
but i get the following errors:

Ahmad ,
I read several times your problem and each time I did ended up with more
questions myself (-:
So server-01 is Exc07 running on top of Win03/SP2 and you have another
server called server-02 Win08 it is just DC?

What do you mean by "I have a remote > windows 2008 "server-02" are you
implying the server-02 belong to another AD site?
If server-01 is up and running you cannot "Seize the FSMO roles" from it to
server-02 , you are not suppose to bring the server-01 back to the network
if you have seized the FSMO roles

Are you trying to say you did "move the FSMO roles? Meaning server-01 was
willingly to give up from its FSMO roles and changes got replicated to
second DC in normal conditions.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255504
*** We recommend that you only seize all roles when the other domain
controller is not returning to the domain***

Now Server -02 has no relation to server-01 what does this mean exactly?
Are you saying DC1 is not talking to DC 2 at all?
And you installed exchange 07 on server-02? (I did install Exchange)

Installing Exchange on domain controllers are not recommended if it is all
possible everyone I know will tell you don't do it if you have an option ,
simple reason DC's are busy authentication users and dealing with their own
database (.dit) and hence they need to be left as DC for them to do their
job in most efficient way. Yes I would understand budged constrains and
limitations but again in long term investment for stability and performance
you should consider not installing exchange on domain controllers instead
stay with MS best practices and install on member server.

http://hellomate.typepad.com/exchange/2004/02/exchange_on_a_d.html
for the rest, you need to use mailbox move wizard to move the mailboxes from
exc-01 to exc-02 and after moving PF folders all mailboxes all functions
properly you simply decommission exchange server you wish not to run in your
environment

Remember Exchange is just an application which deepens on healthy AD and AD
rely on healthy DNS.
