Well, I tried both the repair install, and I updated to the latest video drivers, and I still get black progress bars after Outlook's been running a while :( Any more ideas?
It's entirely possible this may have started after a video driver 'update'...I'll try the repair install first, and if that doesn't have the desired effect, I'll try and update the video drivers. Thanks.
