    Folder pane width change

It's not an older build and is the same corp license I use for all my installations. There's something about installing on a VM for some reason, not that that helps any. As a further test, I switched over to a new Windows profile on my regular PC so that I have a fresh Office HKCU and nothing...

    Folder pane width change

OK. BTW, just to add to the mystery, I keep an Office install in a VM just for experimentation purposes, and despite it being on the latest Insider (Fast) build all along, I've noted that it doesn't experience this issue. As I think might have been alluded to some months back, perhaps that's...

    Folder pane width change

When you say "from a space to block right," does that mean right-justified? I'm not really sure what you mean by that. In any case, you tend to have very long folder names, which I think makes this whole thing a non-issue: But when you don't:

    Folder pane width change

Diane, has Mac been dipping into a little too much Mac-n-Cheese, or is the suggestion that it's by design actually correct? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/folder-pane-width-cant-be-changed-part-deux/56da6710-545e-4ced-b03a-db15377bffde If it is, how does that square...

    Folder pane width change

Thanks for the confirmation. I still have no answer short of completely wiping Office from your system (especially the Registry), but it continues through 14427 (tested with two distinct accounts/Office profiles). When I put 14315 back on, no more problem. Yet, on that VM I mentioned, I can't...

    Folder pane width change

After really zooming into your third image above, I noticed that it doesn't have tight spacing at all. It's just that the lines are so long for the first half of your Favorites that I mistook it to be. The rest of it, including, most importantly the Inbox itself at the bottom, is very broad. And...

    Folder pane width change

It's the original problem: drag right as much as you want, but not as far left as you could before this bug came into being last year. And since the Registry workaround (Experiment* keys) no longer works, only reverting the build does. Speed doesn't seem to matter here, unless you drag left...

    Folder pane width change

All builds after 14315 show the problem, with no known workaround (including the reading pane one mentioned), so I'm forced to revert to that one every time. Tested through 14405.

    Folder pane width change

Maybe that would have worked, I don't know, but nothing previous did (for me, though we may each have different expectations about this so may be talking about two slightly different things) except the Registry. And as of 16.0.14322.20000, not even that works, which is not a good sign at all...

    Folder pane width change

Diane, your third screenshot shows what we're after (though only if your message list doesn't need to be that wide), but are you implying that your preceding maneuvers are what allowed you to get that far left? Or were you already in the state where it wasn't a problem to get that far left? When...

    Folder pane width change

Interesting, but that has no effect on the folder pane here. It's still a hard wall when you try to move it left (without the earlier dumb workaround of mine). Do you think it's maybe some byproduct of your dual monitor setup (just one here) that's aiding you somehow? I'd really like to find...

    Folder pane width change

It definitely could have been, as I only think to check it every couple months. Hard Computer Science problems take time.

It's so funny that they never fixed this. I wonder if they really ever even understood it.

    Folder pane width change

Yes, you're going to see the search box move around (although it's been a while since I've not seen it at the top) and even the notifications style vary (between compact and huge) when deleting Experiments. Here's a thread on managing the location, and it's quite similar to what we've done...

    Folder pane width change

It does seem to only go so far, though I never experimented with it before to know the history of it. But this brings up a logical question. Let's say you could get it down to one inch. What good would it be? It would be like making your web browser one inch wide--not that practical.

    I was wrong.

    Folder pane width change

I've been fooled before, so no guarantees, but I think 16.0.13127.20002 finally fixed the issue.

    Folder pane width change

The problem has been dragging the border left. If you can't then drag it right (which is increasing the width), something is wrong. Or maybe you mean WAY WAY right? I can drag it right quite a ways, far further than anyone would want to, so I can't imagine you meant that, especially since you...

    Folder pane width change

@DL777, to my knowledge you can't go that far. All we're talking about here is being able to get it to the point it seems that you've already gotten it. Just a general comment on this thread: Deleting the Registry keys has always introduced some fun variability, like sometimes seeing search on...

    Folder pane width change

No, it doesn't interfere. It abuts it normally, and when you add a new Quick Access icon it just moves right a bit to accommodate it.
