Thanks for the help Diane.
Our email accounts are POP (as we like a unified InBox)
Yes I have used the signauture dialog many times and the preferences do not save
In file/options >general - I have no option to sync to the cloud.
Maybe of interest is a prefernces under Linked in features 'enable...
I am using a newly purchased Outlook 2021
My problem is that our email signatures are not saving.
ie we have two users on one computer and the detail is simply the name and email address of each one
What am I doing wrongly?
I've solved this.
When I added the new password ( data file/change password) I ticked the box to save the password. As was pointed out to me the computer will then save the password, thus will not prompt for it at Outlook startup!
Diane I am so grateful for your troubleshooting this problem
I think I may have fixed this. Early last year I was using a password with Outlook. I found the password in my Password safe, and applied it to the 'Old password' field and it accepted the new password! Hooray - Err I think :-)
Thanks so much Diane. However although I used the copy and paste entry, it was not accepted.
Thanks also for your reminder about the insecurity of the password.
As long as I can choose the time (!) of the trip for for the repair, I will remove my .pst file before handing the computer over.
Thankyou for your response Diane.
My problem is that I am trying, for the first time, to add a password (not change a password)
I need to do this as my computer has an intermittent startup problem and I need to protect my data while the machine is out for repair.
I am trying to add a password to my .pst file.
When I go to Settings/data settings, I am only offered to change my password. The box offers 'old password' which I ignore, and try to enter my password and repeat on the line below. The popup message says my passwords do not match.
Is this the...
Outlook 365 randomly refuses to send an email (It is stuck in my outbox)
Microsoft has offered a workaround (Work offline/move email to drafts /work online/send the email)
Why is this occurring. How can I permanently correct this?
Thanks for the reply Diane
My email is POP
My missing calendar is part of my desktop installation of Outlook. Today a friend suggested that the photos that were transferred from my old iPad contained an iCloud mail account calendar which overwrote my desktop Calendar.
Three days ago when I purchased a new iPad, I had Apple wirelessly transfer my photos from my old iPad to my PC.
The next day upon opening my Outlook 16 mail I found that my calendar was missing.
I contacted MSoft who opened a case, and gathered logs from my PC. When I started my pc the...
After running a System Restore, on your advice I turned off Outlook updates (as well as Windows updates,) but it still re-appeared.
However to my surprise several days ago the problem disappeared. I note from your latest newsletter that MSoft has fixed it, but how could they do this with all...
I did not know about resetting. But have found your 'how to' now.
In complete frustration I finally performed 'System restore'. I also set a months' delay for Windows updates.
To my extreme annoyance , this morning at Outlook boot, the update announced itself, and even though I tried to close...
Yesterday I accepted after an update when starting Outlook .I then received warning messages 'cannot read the calendar'. While the calendar does appear normally, When I move from Mail to calendar this warning constantly pops up.
The update is not listed in Windows update, or I would have...
I have not added that in the last two weeks I have used the Microsoft tool to delete (supposedly) all traces of the Office 365, and loaded Microsoft 365 with no change to the password issue.
So as you say it points to an OS problem and the timing would fit with update 2004.
