Yep Diane, my old gmail account is still imap.gmail.com and the new one (not paid for) is imap.googlemail.com.
A trick for slow people like me!

I have found after going in circles that the new gmail account is no longer a 'gmail' account, wait for it....it is a 'google mail' account.
I changed my IMAP and STMP settings from "imap.gmail.com" to "imap.googlemail.com" (and stmp.googlemail.com) and hey presto, yes it all...
I have Outlook 2007.
I have had a POP email account and an IMAP account (gmail) in use for a while.
I added another gmail account, and could not expand any of the subfolders of these IMAP accounts OR any other folders (e.g. storing old emails etc).:(
I have deleted the new (2nd) gmail...
