Error Code -3253 Outlook for MAC

I have switched to MAC over the last 6 months and my beloved outlook fails constantly to receive mail.. it will send fine but the receive mail fails 10x in a row and randomly succeeds about 1x per day... this is no way to run a business!! error code -3253 pops up... please help!
