How will a new Exchange profile handle existing .ost file stored elsewhere?

For some reason (long story) I am considering to create a new Outlook profile.
I have never done this before, so I would like to be certain about a few things.

1) I am not sure about the effects, specifically with regards to using existing .ost files.
Used the registry patch "ForceOSTPath.reg" to force storage of the .ost files on a different drive.
Same goes for a 2nd Exchange account and 2 Gmail IMAP .ost files, 4 .ost files in total, on that drive.

Q: I assume, after signin in each account (File > Add account), these .ost files will then be used?

2) Will "exportedUI" files incl. QAT and .rwz files automatically be restored, as maybe they are connected to my Outlook account?

Since no one else has picked up on this, I'll give it a try. But - DISCLAIMER - I have never done a new profile for an Exchange account with OST files, only IMAP accounts with PST files.

1) .officeUI files (Ribbon and QAT)
Backing up all Ribbon and Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) customizations at once - Robert 365

2) rwz files (Rules)
Import or export a set of rules in classic Outlook - Microsoft Support

As far as I know, the existing .officeUI files will be used in the new profile, but you will have to import the Rules. Obviously, make backups of everything.

3) Outlook Settings

But many of the registry entries are binary blobs, so you can't inspect or edit them. You theoretically could export the registry branch from one profile and import it into a new one. But I've never done this.

4) OST Files

This I can not answer. All I can offer is, since your can create a new profile without having to delete the old one, and can switch between them, backup everything and then give it a try.

With IMAP PSTs, you just "Open" the PST from the new profile and you're good.

After creating a new profile Outlook will obviously start of from scratch. Retrieving mail into a new .ost file, named after the new profile.
In the previous profile, one might have set: "Download mail for the past" to ALL, then this should be re-enabled again, else just the last two months or so are being retrieved.

OST files belong to the profile that created them. If you use a junction point to move the ost files, you can keep the same profile and move (and reuse) the ost files. Otherwise, Outlook will resync the mailbox.
 
Hi Diane, thanks for the clarification! So just to confirm, if I create a completely new profile, even if I point it to the old .ost location, Outlook will still treat it as a fresh sync and not directly use the old OST? That helps clear things up.
