New way by Microsoft to get people to use the new Outlook

I'm going to guess here, without any proof, that we are in a transition period. When the transition is over, Classic Outlook will no longer be supported. And the further guess, if you have an Office 365, your Outlook accounts be forcibly converted to the new Outlook, and Classic Outlook uninstalled.
Just guesses of course, by someone who is very wary of Microsoft's recent directions.
 
They announced last year that classic would be sunsetted in 2029. They are already forcing users to new Outlook - but it is possible to switch back. They started with consumer accounts and the small business subscription. Will be moving on to small enterprises then move up to larger ones.
 
On my Win 11 laptop i had an icon appear a couple of weeks ago, I think on the taskbar but might have been a pop up bubble, saying something like the "the latest update to your Outlook is ready to be downloaded". I ignored it and went into Settings and deleted the new Outlook again. (which i had already deleted previously).
That message has not come back since.
 
I set a registry key to disable the switch in classic outlook's title bar so Microsoft won't automatically switch me to new outlook.

I use new Outlook, mostly for testing, and don't it classic disabled since its my default mail app.

Thanks I'll use that on my wife's Outlook.
My Outlook has never shown that button. Maybe because I have Office LTSC 2021
