Bring back the Reminder Bell on Appointments

Appointments in Outlook 2007 don't have the reminder bell icon found in older versions of Outlook. While I understand why it was removed and know I could use a table view to see them, I'd rather have the icons so I can see at a glance if I have a reminder set.

It is a pity that the vote options don't include 'user selectable' which would be the best option.

I can add that. :) However, when possible Microsoft does go with user-selectable so a yes vote would also be for user-selectable. A no vote means "No, I never want to see the reminder icon."

Also keep in mind that making things user selectable can lead to unintended bugs and or increase the costs, leading them to choose either to do it always or never. (Yes, even Microsoft has to live within a budet.)

Perhaps you have more variable types of appointments in your calendar than me, but doesn't the subject tell you if you would have likely set a reminder or not?




I suspect this is not going to be an issue for most people, but as a workaround, have you considered colour categories for them? Also, creating separate forms for recording different types of appointments can set many things automatically for you.

I have no idea why the OP wants to see them, but in my experience, users want the reminder back because the appointments come from other sources (email or directly added by someone else) and the reminder isn't always set. Separate forms would be a problem in these situtations too.

Color categories only work if you don't already have a category. Autoformatting to apply colors based on not having a reminder set won't work if a color category is assigned as it won't override the color category.

The only way to easily see if a reminder right now is using a table view.
