How do I configure Outlook Express to send and receive MSN email.
I can do it with Hotmail and POP3 but a friend has an MSN email account
that he wants to use.

POP3/SMTP settings for Hotmail, MSN & live.com acconts are identical. Send
you friend the following:

Compare your configuration settings to those listed on this page:
http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!F92775FC46A390CA!422.entry

TIP: OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [new Hotmail POP3 account] | Properties |
Servers | Incoming mail server | Log on using Secure Password Authentication
<=Do NOT check/enable this option!

TIP: OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [new Hotmail POP3 account] | Properties |
Servers | Outgoing mail server | My server requires authentication
<=check/enable this option

TIP: OE Tools | Accounts | Mail | [new Hotmail POP3 account] | Properties |
Advanced:

=> Outgoing (SMTP) server port will need to be 587 (not 25) for most users
=> Incoming (POP3) server should be port 995
=> Both SSL options must be checked/enabled

TIP: Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and it may be causing your problem.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email

Thank you, I thought this was correct. Just set up OE to use an MSN
account. Trying to get Access to send mail and thought we needed to have OE
installed but still having problems with Access opening OE even though we
can now send email through OE using the MSN account. Works great on my
computer but not on the one that uses the Access program. Will keep working
on it.

YMMV but MS Access may require a Full MAPI mail client (e.g., Outlook); OE
is a Simple MAPI mail client.
