Reminder for an overdue task with recurrence is disabled without user

Reminder for an overdue task with recurrence is disabled without user’s consent


Goal:


User should be able to determine behavior of overdue tasks himself


Problems:


If a recurring task is overdue for 2 or more recurrences and a user marks such task as completed a reminder for this task is disabled automatically for all future recurrences


solution:


in “options > tasks” create a checkbox “do not reset a reminders for an overdue task with recurrence”

Was the task marked complete without dismissing the reminder? If you dismiss the reminder, its removed from the task.

Did the behavior change from previous versions of Outlook? If so, its a bug.

no, the reminder was not dismissed

the behaviour did not change.


I think MS believes it's a feature (i.e. if you missed one recurrance there is no need to remind you any further)


you can easily recreate this problem


1. create a test task


2. set recurrence to daily every 1st day with start day, say, 12th of January 2010


3. check reminder box


4. mark the task completed but do not dismiss the reminder


5. come back when this task pops up again in reminders

You can't overcome it - if you want to generate the next one task with a reminder you need to mark it complete. Dismissing the reminder will remove it from future tasks.
