I am getting an error message when trying to open outlook. It tells me to run
scanpst.exe. I have looked for this file on my PC, the dell disc that came
with the pc and the outlook installation discs. I have included hidden files.

Where can i download a copy of scanpst.exe?

Vista ultimate
Outlook 2007

Scanpst.exe is usually hidden, did you use the Advanced option to search
hidden files and folders?

Hello Matthew.

Yes, i did look but all it tells me is how to run scanpst which is not on my
PC. I tried the bottom link but when i run the app, i get the following
message...

"This application has failed to start because scnpst32.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Outlook 2007 and Office Diagnostics
If you are using Microsoft Outlook 2007, instead of the Inbox Repair Tool
you may use the Office Diagnostics application. You can access it from the
Outlook Help menu -> Office Diagnostics. The concept & use is pretty much
the same as for the Inbox Repair Tool.

How do I run Office Diagnostics?
Before running Office Diagnostics, and to ensure all the tests can run
successfully, we recommend that you do the following:

a.. Plan to run the tests during a time when you can stop using your
system. In particular, you should avoid using the system while the Memory
Diagnostic is running.
b.. Close as many running programs as you can.
Do the following in these 2007 Microsoft Office system programs:

Access, Excel, PowerPoint, or Word
1.. Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Program Name
Options, where Program Name is the name of the program you are in, for
example, Word Options.
2.. Click Resources.
3.. Click Diagnose, click Continue, and then click Start Diagnostics.
InfoPath, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, Project, SharePoint Designer, or
Visio
1.. On the Help menu, click Office Diagnostics.
2.. Click Continue, and then click Start Diagnostics.
How do I run Office Diagnostics if I can't run an Office program?
If necessary, you can run Office Diagnostics from the Start menu.

a.. In Microsoft Windows, click Start, point to All Programs, point to
Microsoft Office, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft
Office Diagnostics.

Office Diagnostics is not a substitute for the Inbox Repair Tool. They
address different problems.

Open Windows Explorer. In the Address field, enter this exactly:

%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office12

or

%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office12

(depending on 32/64 bit Windows) and click Go. I'll bet you'll see
scanpst.exe.

Apparently the statement you made earlier, "I have included hidden files" was
a falsehood.
